WHO WE ARE

The purpose of this group is to join together to share our mutual enjoyment of riding while promoting the aims and purposes of the American Legion.  Each group is sponsored by a local American Legion Post and works with local Posts to support charities and promote Veterans issues.
The American Legion Riders, Chapter 149 was formed in July 2001 as District 22 Chapter (San Diego County) at and sponsored by Post 149 in Escondido.  The American Legion Riders is a group that was first formed in Garden City, Michigan Post 396 in 1994. It consisted of members of the American Legion, Auxiliary or Sons of the Legion who ride motorcycles.

The American Legion Riders, Department of California, met in their 1st Annual Convention in Fresno March 31st - April 1, 2007.  The Constitution and By-laws were approved and officers were elected for 2007-2008.  Present to congratulate the Riders were the Commander, Vice-Commander for Women, and Adjutant of  The American Legion, Department of California as well as many other Department and District officers.
A resolution was presented at the annual Convention of  The American Legion, Department of California in Palm Springs in June that made The Riders an official program of the Department.
