CHAPLAIN | HAROLD OLSON

In order for the “Service to God and Country” program to truly thrive within The American Legion, it must be carried out at the Post level. Like all other programs projected on a National or Department scale, it holds little value unless it results in real activity among individual Posts—where it can reach Legionnaires and the communities we serve.

Without the active cooperation of local Posts, the program cannot accomplish its greater purpose: to help bring the American people to a deeper realization of our Creator and the vital place of God in the life of our Nation.

Chaplain’s Reflection

As Legionnaires, we are called not only to serve our fellow Veterans but also to strengthen the moral and spiritual fabric of our community. “Service to God and Country” is more than a phrase—it is a commitment to live out the values of faith, duty, and patriotism in our daily lives. I encourage each of you to reflect on how you can bring these values into your family, your work, and your service here at Post 149. Together, we can set an example that inspires others and reminds our community of the importance of God in the life of our Nation.
