COMMANDER | GEORGE CHRISTENSEN

Greetings Comrades,

November flew by, with lots of great events at the Post. I was privileged to participate in a Turkey give-away sponsored by Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel.  We gave out 1,000 complete turkey dinners to include sides and fresh produce to persons who otherwise might not have at traditional holiday meal.  I intend to join in again next year and hope we can have Legionnaires join too.   December is also lining up to be a very busy month at the post, and I invite all members to not only join in, but volunteer to help with some of the events.

First off is the Post 149 Auxiliary revitalization meeting taking place on Saturday December 6th from 11:00-1:00.  All members are invited to attend as we work together to bring this vital part of our American Legion Family back in action.

Next up is the National Commander’s visit December 14th-19th.  We will not be hosting the National Commander at Post 149, but other posts have activities planned and you can see all on the Department of California Website.

On the 20th we will be holding our Post Christmas party, the theme this year is the Grinch who stole Christmas.  The party will be from 6:00-10 PM and it will be a potluck, the potluck sign up will be at the bar in the clubroom.  There will be an ugly sweater contest, and a white elephant gift exchange.  To participate in the gift exchange you must bring a gift to exchange; presents can be stolen twice.  There will be a person at the door to give tickets to those who wish to participate.  No ticket, no exchange.  We need volunteers who want to help make this party a success.  Please reach out to me or Past Commander Jen Holden if you want to volunteer.  Let’s get together and have some Fun!

There will be a blood drive on the 30th of December.  This time of year blood is sorely needed.  I will be there to donate, how about you?

As I close there will be a Post cleanup day coming soon as we have a large event in January to prepare for, with a large rental.

As far as I know everyone had a safe Thanksgiving, as we move into December I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.  Let’s rededicate ourselves to take care of each other, Veteran’s, and serve our community where needed in the coming year.

Yours in Service

George Christensen
