COMMANDER | GEORGE CHRISTENSEN
Greetings Legionnaires,
Hard to believe a year has passed since our last officer elections. At the general meeting nominations were closed and the election held.
Here are your Post Officers for the coming year:
Commander George Christensen
1st Vice Mike Frank
2nd Vice Stef Holden
Finance Officer Jen Holder
Sergeant-At-Arms John Putman
Eboard
Rafael Delvecchio
Kevin Wood.
Jim Botts
Bob Anschick
These members are appointed:
Adjutant Cyndie August
Historian Tim Frazier
Chaplain/Service Officer Harold Olson
Judge Advocate Jen Holden
Jen Holden is stepping in temporarily as the Judge Advocate. I am looking for someone else to step up. There is plenty of assistance available from the District Judge Advocate.
I want to thank the members of Post 149 for the opportunity to serve another year as the Post Commander, I am humbled by your support. I spoke to some initiatives for the upcoming year:
Continue to repair and upgrade the Post as Hall rentals and Courtyard rentals are a major source of funding for our programs. Tim Frazier is now our rental agent.
We have two projects planned right now that we estimate will cost around $20,000 to complete. I will be working to find donors, and the Finance Officer will be looking at grants so we can complete these renovations.
I spoke of our activities and how these can help bring in new members, things like our Line Dancing class on Mondays, we have gamers coming in on a Saturday, there is a canning class on Saturdays, Friday night Karaoke, and the Blues band. We had a successful comedy night. I am looking for ideas to put some FUN activities on the calendar. If you have some suggestions, please come to a general meeting and let’s see what we can do together.
I will close with my usual pitch to reinvigorate our committees. We will be publishing a list of committees that need members as well as chairpersons. Can you give four to eight hours a month to the post? We also need help with the Sunday breakfasts. You don’t have to be a member of the group hosting breakfast to pitch in and help, especially with clean-up after the event.
Mark your calendars flag day is coming up June 14th, I hope to see every member there. Let’s work together to make Post 149 the voice of Veteran’s in North County.
Yours in Service
George T. Christensen
Commander
J.B. Clark Post 149
