FIRST VICE | GEORGE CHRISTENSEN

Greetings Comrades!

Our first “Be the One” telephone campaign was a success.  The members we were able to speak with expressed appreciation for the call.  There were many we did not reach and we will be doing another session in May, as well as figuring out how to do text messaging as well.

The May general meeting will be the final time for officer nominations.  I encourage all of you to attend to cast your vote for candidates who will be taking on the responsibility of conducting the business of the Post.  Please consider running for office yourself.

I am announcing my candidacy to be the next Post Commander.  Please attend the meeting and endorse my nomination.  I transferred to Post 149 from Oceanside Post 146 after moving to San Marcos.  At Post 146 I served as the Post Commander, and Past President of the Rider Chapter.

Our theme is every member brings in a member.  Every member who knows a member who we haven’t seen or heard of for a while invites that member to a general meeting, or something as simple as joining for a Post breakfast to share some camaraderie.  I have come to realize we need to do more than just bring in new members.  We need to educate and mentor our members to prepare them to accept an elected position in the post or become an active member of our committees that support the four pillars of the American Legion.  I have been giving this some thought lately but know I cannot do this alone.  I need all the membership to pitch in and help out. See you at the May meeting.
